KAPRB Blue Demons Boys’ Lacrosse Spring 2019 Overview

KAPRB Blue Demons is a youth lacrosse program open to student athletes residing in the Kennett Consolidated School District.  Our mission as a non-profit organization is to provide a safe and competitive environment devoted to promoting educational, recreational and competitive lacrosse activities for elementary & middle school students.

Blue Demons Boys' Lacrosse is a member of the Chester Country Lacrosse Association (www.cclalax.org). Practices begin in early March.  The CCLA 2019 regular season will run from late March through May.  There will be no practice or games scheduled during Memorial Day Weekend. Each team entered into the scheduling process will play 10-12 regular season games. Prior to the regular season we will generally practice 2-3 days a week at Kennett Middle School, Greenwood Elementary, Kennett High School and Legacy Field.  Weather permitting, practice will begin in early March.  Once the season begins we will usually practice 2 days a week and play 2 games a week.  General information regarding each age group below:

6U (born between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2013)

8U (born between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2012)

This age group offers fundamental instruction with limited contact for those new to lacrosse and players with a year or more of experience.  The goal is to introduce lacrosse skills and simulated game situations and each player will receive substantially equal playing time.  Players are separated by one or more of the following: age, grade, size and experience.  Each player must provide their own equipment including a stick, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, mouth guard and a helmet.  New players are required to purchase a pinnie and shorts, pinnies are used for both practices and games.  League rules permit the use of hockey helmet for 6U & 8U players.  Starter pads (gloves, shoulder and arm pads) can be purchased at Kelly’s Sports in West Chester, any Dick’s Sporting Good or most other sporting goods retailers for approximately $100.00.  The game schedule will begin in mid-late April and will be primarily in the form of play-days; weekend events where multiple programs will join in to play 3-4 small-sided games.  We may also schedule a few games against other CCLA or neighboring programs.  Registration fee for the 6U/8U program is $170 per player plus uniform costs if needed.  Each player must have a pair of game shorts and pinnie which may be re-used from previous seasons or purchased from Spirit Wear or the uniform store on bluedemonssports.org.

10U (born between September 1, 2008 and August 31, 2010)

The 10U program offers fundamental instruction for the new player and advanced or intermediate skill development for the experienced player.  Dependent on the number and skill level of players,  the 10U age group may be divided into 3 skill levels, A, B & C and competes in a 8-12 game schedule (usually 2 games per week on Weds and Sat).   The A division consists of experienced players with advanced skills; the B level usually includes experienced players with intermediate skills and some beginners and the C level is most appropriate for beginners or players with a year’s experience or less.  Evaluation for the A team will occur in March, with team assignments made by the coaching staff.  Each player/parent must provide their own equipment including a stick, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, helmet, mouth guard, and game shorts.  League rules require the use of lacrosse helmet for all 10U players.  KAPRB Blue Demons will supply each player with a game jersey to be returned to the club at season end.  Starter pads (gloves, shoulder and arm pads) can be purchased at Kelly’s Sports in West Chester, any Dick’s Sporting Good or most other sporting goods retailers for approximately $100.00. Registration fee for the 10U program is $220 per player plus uniform costs if required.  Each player must also have a pair of game shorts and a practice pinnie which may be re-used from previous seasons or purchased through Spirit Wear or the uniform store on bluedemonssports.org
